Hey everybody,
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post something like this, and I feel bad that I haven't been able to post much recently, but this is definitely for a good cause.

My 7 year old came home from school with a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. For those of you who don't know them, to quote their mission, "to find cures for children with catastrophic diseases through research and treatment". I understand that no child is turned away, regardless of their ability to pay for treatment, which I strongly support. While located here in the U.S., they help children from all over the world.

The cool thing about this fundraiser is that the kids have to solve math problems in order to earn money for the hospital. My son did it last year, and was so excited about it that when he completed all the problems, he asked if he could do them again to help the children more.

I'm trying to encourage this spirit of giving and helping others in my children, and think it would be great if we could send the hospital a really nice donation. So, if I'm allowed to post this, I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in sponsoring him to complete the "Math-a-thon". Pledges can be made per problem (3 cents or 5 cents, etc...), or as a flat amount. There are approximately 200 problems. All checks would be made directly to St. Jude's, but mailed to us so we can hand them into the school.

To check the legitimacy of this fundraiser, you can go to St. Jude's website or www.mathathon.org.

Thanks for thinking about it...wishing all a happy holiday season!

Thanks guys, that's great. He should be getting the CD Rom in about a week to start the problems, and the donations are probably due the following week. I'll let you know how many he completes, although I'm sure it will be the whole thing, knowing him.

Again, please make checks payable to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and you can mail them to my son, Jonathan Holden at 162 Pocono Mtn. Lake Est., Bushkill, PA 18324.

Craig
